It’s becoming clear to me that I’m old. There are just some things in this world that I don’t understand. I’m not talking about the internet as a whole. I’m not quite that old. I still have all faculties and everything, most of them, so I have that going for me.
What I’m talking about is that every time I come on Disney Fanatic (shameless website plug), someone is doing something stupid at Disney World or Disneyland to get people to look at them on Tic-Toc or Instagram.
Whether that stupid thing is cutting in front of a two-year-old in line, filming in a place you’re not supposed to film, or leaving graffiti on Sleeping Beauty Castle, it just seems to be getting worse. And now I’m left to wonder, why? What about the internet or these people that continually make them do stupid things at Disney Parks?
At first, I blamed it on Covid. Perhaps people were locked down too long and forgot how to act around other human beings at Walt Disney World. But now, that’s not really an excuse. Maybe they’re getting paid for his. Is it possible that these people have so many followers that they are making millions, and I’m the sucker here? Yes, I suppose that is, in fact, possible. As I said, there are a lot of things that I don’t fully understand.
I love going to Disney Parks. I love the atmosphere. I love the food at Disney World. I love everything, Disney. If I could go there with my family and not interact with another Park goer, I would. No offense. I just don’t want to see people doing these stupid things. Save it for when I’m not around, if you don’t mind.
So now I come to you as a representative of the Disney community who happens to have a computer in front of me and a captive audience (thanks for that, by the way), and I ask you to please stop. There’s no need to harass a Disney Princess or yell at a Cast Member. There’s no reason to leave graffiti at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. You don’t have to shave a Monkey at Animal Kingdom. You are not in the parade; get off the float.
I still don’t understand why you’re doing what you’re doing, but it needs to end. Is it the booze? That’d I understand. I’d even let you have that, but I don’t think it’s the drinking that’s getting you into this trouble.
Let’s just all go to the Happiest Place on Earth and not worry about people who aren’t even there. Live in the moment. I think I saw that on an influencer’s Instagram page. See, that’s something we can all agree on, sort of. Isn’t it enough that you get to be at Walt Disney World Resort and the rest of the world doesn’t?
Please, enjoy yourself, but just stop being stupid for other people’s enjoyment. It makes you look like the dumb one.
I HAD to Google “why are people stupid at Disney” and came across your post ☺️. Glad to know I’m not the only one that thinks like this! I too am an avid Disney fan (even marched in parade back when I was in high school and have gone every year since which is now almost 30 years later). Just got back from a week long bday Disney trip and I definitely did not feel like I left the happiest place on earth nor did I have the feeling of being sad to leave. As a matter of fact, I was MORE excited to return to work and deal with stupid coworkers because at least I get paid for it!
It is so sad that people have become that way. Notice when it all started. 2016. People before that acted mostly civil. Now what they see everywhere, on the Tv sets the tone. I have been a Disney fan all my life. I have been there 23 times. All before Covid and never had any experiences like that. From what I have heard, it doesn’t make me feel like I want to go back. What happen to people feeling accountable for their actions? Respect for others? Respect for themselves? Grow up people. You are ruining a good thing by acting this way. Get some respect.
These people should be banned even if not caught in the park .If these are shown on social media and they are named they should be banned.
I’m with Denise. It’s not that hard to find people who post stuff on social media. Disney can certainly employ a few of their techies to track down the bad actors, find out if they have APs, and ban them. If they don’t have an AP, just put them on the Disney version of DNR; Banning a few TikTok idiots (and being public about it) will go a long way to slowing the spread of stupid acts in the parks. Social media posters are all about the clicks and the attention. Let them get that somewhere else.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Too many people are trying to become champions in this arena. The “refs” are gonna have to enforce some rules and start ejecting the players!
