At one point or another, every Disney fan has said the same thing: “I’d do anything to go to Disney World right now.” Of course, we don’t mean it literally. There are limits to what we will do for a trip to Disney World.
But not every Disney fan puts a limit on what they will do for a trip to Disney World. And now there is a Texas attorney who overcharged her clients, ghosted them and used their money for lavish trips to the Walt Disney World Resort.

Dorothy Butler Lawrence, known online as ‘TheTrendyLawyer,’ has been sanctioned by the Texas Bar Association for allegedly overcharging her clients, fraud, and misrepresentation. But despite the charges against her, Lawrence still flashed her lavish trips to Disney World and Disneyland to her 500,000 social media followers. He took six trips from Texas to California or Central Florida in 2023.
According to complaints, her firm, Dorothy Butler Law Firm in Dripping Springs, Texas, which is two hours north of San Antonio, overcharged clients thousands of dollars for work they did not perform. The law firm also allegedly allowed a non-licensed person who pretended to be a lawyer to work with her clients.
Leah Casey, one of her clients, told KVUE, an ABC affiliate in Texas:
Not only did they not adequately represent me, they did a disservice. They didn’t know what they were doing. They didn’t have the specialization that they promised that they did. They put a personal injury attorney on a family law case, which wasn’t appropriate at all and, in effect, offended the judge in a way that was very damaging to me. I would have been in [a] much, much better place had I never even called them.
While her clients were looking for help from her law firm, Lawrence allegedly used the money the law firm gave her for Disney vacations. She also used the money for a spa vacation, but most of her posts were from Walt Disney World.
Lawrance, a graduate of LSU Law School, received a two-year probated suspension from the Texas State Bar. By taking money for litigation she never performed, the Bar found that she “engaged in conduct that involved dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation.”
Lawrence could face further legal action as the Bar continues investigating her theft of clients’ funds and assisting someone without a license to pretend to be an attorney.
So, while her former clients may never be made whole, at least they know that Lawrence cannot do this to anyone else for the foreseeable future.
