Disney World fans, it’s time to prepare for another big change. Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to close permanently to make way for a Monsters, Inc.-themed land. That means cherished spots like Muppet Vision 3D, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and PizzeRizzo will soon be things of the past. And yes, even the iconic Miss Piggy fountain will be removed.
Disney hasn’t provided a specific closure date yet, but with construction on the new land scheduled to kick off in 2025, it’s only a matter of time before demolition begins. Based on past experiences, such as the phased closure of DinoLand U.S.A., fans can expect an official announcement just a few months before work starts.
If you want to soak in all the Muppet goodness one last time, you might want to visit early in the year before the area is shuttered for good.
Other Disney World Closures Coming in 2025
Beyond Muppets Courtyard, several other areas across the parks will see changes next year. At Magic Kingdom, a handful of attractions are temporarily closing for refurbishment, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The iconic Walt Disney World Railroad is also down once again, creating transportation challenges for guests. Additionally, Tomorrowland’s Astro Orbiter and the Dumbo playground in Storybook Circus are closed, limiting options for younger visitors.
EPCOT will also be experiencing downtime with the closure of Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros from January 6 to March 15, 2025. Fans of this charming boat ride will have to wait until spring to enjoy it again. Meanwhile, Test Track is undergoing a major overhaul, with Disney promising an upgraded experience that blends innovation with fun.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom isn’t being left out of the transformation, as work continues to replace DinoLand U.S.A. with a new Tropical Americas-themed land, featuring attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.
While it’s always tough to say goodbye to favorite attractions, these closures pave the way for fresh and exciting experiences across Disney World. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates, and if you’re planning a trip soon, make the most of your favorite experiences before they change forever.
