Marvel Superheroes are a known commodity of The Walt Disney Company when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney+, and even Disneyland Resort. But there is still one place where the comic book icons are NOT directly associated with Disney: Universal Orlando Resort.
The Disney World rival features a Marvel-themed land, Marvel Super Hero Island, in its Islands of Adventure Theme Park, which includes iconic attractions like The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster and The Amazing Adventure of Spider-Man, and it is well known that they will continue to hold the Theme Park rights to most Marvel IP in the State of Florida for an indefinite amount of time. There was the hovering assumption among fans, though, that it was only a matter of time until Disney required the rights and a proper Avengers Campus could be installed at one of the Disney World Theme Parks. But that does not look to be the case after all.
Universal Orlando Resort shared a blog post today advertising its Marvel area, specifically its available merchandise. While the attractions and character costumes may appear visually outdated to what can be found on Disney+ or in Disney California Adventure Park, the Marvel merchandise is anything but outdated. Clearly pictured next to comic book-style clothes and toys is “the new stuff,” featuring the Marvel Avengers logo and everything.
Universal states,
Marvel Super Hero fans are a truly dedicated — and sometimes zealous — bunch. I can say that because I’m one of them. Certain spirited debates have raged on for decades… Who is stronger: Hulk or Thor? Is Reed Richards the most intelligent Super Hero? These are the kinds of questions that can draw out hours of conversation. But what is something that unites all Marvel devotees? We’re talking MERCH.
I think we can all agree that there’s no better way to rep your favorites than to build a nice collection. Whether you’re more of a T-shirt person or you have a whole room of action figures (why not both?), Marvel Super Hero Island atUniversal’s Islands of Adventure has you covered.
