Universal Orlando is pulling no punches and bringing out the big guns to take on Disney and its Central Florida Disney Resort, Walt Disney World.
The friendly competition and rivalry between the Walt Disney Company and Universal has been going on for years now, from the bidding war for 20th Century Studios between Comcast and the Walt Disney Company (then headed by Comcast CEO Brian Roberts and Disney CEO Bob Iger) to the constant battle to see which Florida Theme Park will win out. Now, Universal has announced a new land coming to Universal Orlando, upping the ante.
Universal Orlando Marks its Presence in Florida
Universal Orlando Resort has made its mark in Florida in no uncertain terms. With its various parks, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay, the Central Florida Resort gives Walt Disney World Resort (and its theme parks, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and more) a run for its money.
With The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade) and attractions like Jurrasic Park River Adventure, there’s a lot to enjoy. Comcast CEO Brian Roberts has even stated his belief in Universal outplaying Disney in the theme park business, and the numbers corroborate this as well.
