We have said it before, and we will say it again: rare character sightings have a way to bring extra-special levels of magic to Guests’ Disney day. And while some of those sightings and meet and greets are extremely rare, impromptu moments that we cannot give our readers a heads up on, they stand as further proof that one can never truly know what to expect when they visit the Disneyland Resort of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Earlier, we shared that Dumbo made his first appearance in years at the Magic Kingdom. A few hours later, Experiment 624–AKA Angel–was spotted at Disneyland Paris. Now, it appears that Walt Disney’s oldest character decided to stop by the Disneyland Resort today, April 6, 2022: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

An official video of Oswald’s Park visit was shared on DisneyParks TikTok account, which you can check out below:

Taking the stage on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure, Oswald appears to be dancing to music from his early cartoons.

Before the words “Mickey Mouse” were ever uttered, Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks had Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. This lovable character is considered Walt’s first big success. However, due to the existing contracts at the time, the rights to Oswald were held by Universal Studios. It was due to losing Oswald that Mickey Mouse was born.

The Walt Disney Company did not gain the rights to Oswald for some time under then-Disney CEO Bob Iger, but the cartoon character has become a bit of a cult Park character ever since–with Guests rocking his own line of merchandise at the Disney store.

Meanwhile, the clock continues to countdown to April 18–the fateful day when the distance is erased and normal, huggable character meet and greets return to Disney’s Theme Parks in California and Florida.

We at Disney Fanatic will continue to share magical Disney Park stories with our readers as they come to light.
