The hollowed-out tree and mountaintop are completely gone, and more scaffolding has been added as more rock work most likely gets underway.
Aerial photographs show that while work on the outline is underway, the log flume ride’s track appears to remain the same as the original, seeming to confirm that the only changes will apply mostly to the theming.
Taking the place of the Song of the South-themed log flume ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will immerse Disney Park Guests into the world of Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, and the jazz loving alligator Louis as they prepare for an unforgettable Mardi Gras celebration. The ride will take place after the events of Disney’s Princess and the Frog and, therefore, might leave out some important characters like Dr. Facilier and Ray.

Imagineers broke ground on the Magic Kingdom Park transformation in January 2023, and they are expected to begin transformation on Disneyland’s Splash Mountain in Anaheim, California, later this year. Both versions of the ride are expected to open by the end of 2024. Disneyland Resort will also receive Tiana’s Palace restaurant as part of its New Orleans Square area.
The third Splash Mountain variant resides at Tokyo Disneyland, and it will remain the only Splash Mountain ride available to Disney fans for the time being.
