Singer Campaigns For Live-Action ‘Princess Tiana’ Role With Stunning Performance

As rumors spread regarding a live-action remake of the 2009 hit animated Disney movie The Princess and the Frog, one popular R & B singer is throwing her own hat into the ring for the role of Princess Tiana!

Ari Lennox, a successful young singer from Washington D.C, has just shared her rendition of the Princess and the Frog song “Almost There” on Twitter in a bid for Disney’s attention.

Ari Lennox addressed Disney directly in the video shown below, saying the following: “I would love an opportunity to audition for The Princess and the Frog in person. Here’s ‘Almost There’ by Anika Noni Rose.”

Disney Legend and singer Anika Noni Rose originated the role of Princess Tiana. 

Ari Lennox (who looks to singers like Erykah Badu for inspiration) has a large fanbase, and her fans responded enthusiastically to her pre-audition audition tape.

The singer refers to her own singing voice as “vulnerable but soulful; imperfect but pretty”, and since many Disney fans have made it clear that they want more realistic, flawed, and inclusive Disney princesses, Ari Lennox’s voice might seem perfect for Princess Tiana in the eyes of Disney!

Princess Tiana has been soaking up a lot of the limelight lately in the world of Disney; after all, the Disney princess is getting her own Magic Kingdom ride in the form of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — not to mention a restaurant inspired by her native New Orleans, a boutique in Disneyland, and her own Disney+ animated show!
