While the Disney Parks are undoubtedly places of magic and wonder—the Walt Disney World Resort is called “The Most Magical Place on Earth” and the Disneyland Resort is called “The Happiest Place on Earth” for a real reason—there are things that sometimes go wrong during a Disney vacation. From smaller instances of bad behavior to more tragic happenings of deaths and dangerous malfunctions of rides and attractions, sometimes, things don’t go awry during a Disney Park visit.
Recently, something went quite awry during on fan-favorite show at Disneyland Resort: “Fantasmic!” The show, which is also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park, restarted at the end of last year. It showcases the story of how “Mickey Mouse dreams that he is a mighty sorcerer’s apprentice with the power to control water, color and magic. The Disney Villains—including Maleficent in the form of a towering, 40-foot-tall dragon—turn Mickey’s dream into a nightmare, but don’t underestimate the power of Mickey’s imagination!”
The show includes scenes from beloved Disney movies including, Moana, Frozen 2, Mulan, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and more.
But in a shocking turn of events, there was a huge fire at Disneyland last night, and many Guests had to flee the area. However, despite the fact this fire happened across the country, Walt Disney World will also be making some changes to how they put on the show.
Journalist Scott Gustin took to Twitter to share the news:
NEW: Walt Disney World says the only impact will be the temporary suspension of fire effects on the Maleficent float in the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom. While these kinds of events do unfortunately happen, it’s important to note that Disney does have the necessary safety mechanisms in place to ensure Guest safety, and while accidents happen, Cast Members are trained to respond to these situations and make sure Guests are kept safe.
