Bad behavior at Walt Disney World is, unfortunately, not a new occurrence. Whether at Walt Disney World Resort or the Disneyland Resort, there have been multiple reports over the years of Guests heckling Cast Members and picking fights with other Guests, so much so that Cast Members have gone on record numerous times imploring Guests to be less “selfish” and sharing the extent of how “damaging” Guest behavior can be. This report is slightly different from the others, though.
Whereas, Disney Guests are usually exasperated by this kind of behavior and, more often than not, want fellow Park visitors and Disney fans to be more courteous—a policy that is seconded by Disney with their (semi-)recent update. In fact, in the past this time, when a Disney World Guest screamed and ranted so loudly that it woke up another Guest through the hotel room walls, rather than get angry, the Guest sympathized with them.
Disney World Guest and Reddit user u/Affectionate_Owl6288 took to the platform to share the story.
They shared that a lady woke them up at 7 a.m. screaming the “f word” over her kids’ wailing through their wall at Beach Club because she didn’t get a Lightning Lane for the EPCOT ride, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. But the OP, contrary to expectation, said she “agreed with everything” the other Guest said. The OP even went so far as to say, ” It’s incredible how bad this has all gotten.”
While it was certainly a surprising turn of events, it is unfortunately in line with most of the criticism levied at the Walt Disney Company and the Disney Parks for how unhappy Guests are with Disney’s Genie product. A complaint that—for all of Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger’s insistence that the company is listening to Guests—seems to fall on deaf ears with Josh D’Amaro constantly reiterating that the Disney Genie product is one the company “believes in.”
Fellow Guests in the comments didn’t see eye to eye with the OP, sharing that the Individual Lightning Lane was available for the ride and that the virtual queue, while shut, would reopen at 1 p.m. Disney has never commented on any of these specific operational issues but has stood fast in their comment that the Disney Genie suite isn’t going anywhere; the system, whether Guests like it or not, is here to stay.
