Walt Disney World Guests Report Stolen Money, Left in Shock by Poor Service Response

A recent guest report at Walt Disney World Resort has raised concerns over both safety and customer service, as one family shared their experience of having their wallets stolen during a visit to the resort’s pool area. The theft, followed by what the family described as an unsatisfactory response from Disney staff, has left them feeling frustrated and disillusioned with their vacation, highlighting a growing dissatisfaction with Disney’s guest service practices.

Theft at the Pool: A Disturbing Discovery

The incident occurred when the guest, along with her husband and brother, enjoyed a relaxing poolside experience. According to the report, after purchasing drinks, the guest’s brother placed their wallets into her bag for safekeeping. After swimming and spending about 20 to 30 minutes in the pool, they returned to their belongings to find that both her brother’s wallet and her husband’s wallet were missing.

The family immediately reported the theft to a staff member at the pool. According to the guest, the response they received was dismissive: “That’s weird. That’s NEVER happened before.” They were then directed to the front desk, where the staff reiterated the same comment. Despite the concerning nature of the theft, the family was left feeling that their complaint was not being taken seriously.

Unresolved Issues and Disregard for Guests’ Concerns

In an attempt to further address the situation, the guest’s brother requested that the Sheriff’s Department be called to file a police report. However, the staff allegedly brushed off this request, further escalating the family’s frustration. “We continue to be locked in this room. No one asks where we were sitting, just says they’ll check the garbage cans,” the guest described. Despite waiting for hours with no clear resolution in sight, the family was told that the sheriff would eventually arrive.

When the sheriff did arrive, he instructed the family to file a police report online, which added to their discontent. The lack of a clear, immediate solution led to growing disappointment with how Disney handled the situation.

Requests for Compensation Met with Indifference

As the family continued to deal with the aftermath of the theft, they requested compensation for the inconvenience caused. Specifically, they asked for a partial refund on their EPCOT tickets, as they had only been able to enjoy a few hours at the park due to the stress of the situation. However, the Duty Manager offered a second EPCOT ticket for future use, valid for up to two years. The family declined this offer, remarking, “Why would we ever want to come back after this?” Their frustration was compounded by the manager’s lack of empathy, and they felt that their concerns were not being acknowledged.

This issue represents part of a larger pattern of dissatisfaction the family has faced with Disney’s customer service. According to the guest, their experience with Disney Vacation Club (DVC) has been marred by consistent issues, including dirty rooms and poor service. “Since Covid, all we get are dirty, disgusting rooms with pubic hair and hair all over the bathrooms. And when you complain, they are rude so we’ve stopped even saying anything,” the guest shared.

Refund Secured, But Not Enough to Restore Trust

After several calls to DVC and Guest Services, the family was able to secure a refund for their EPCOT tickets after waiting for an hour at Disney Springs guest services. While they were thankful to a Disney employee named Lena who facilitated the refund, this gesture did little to make up for the overall dissatisfaction with their experience.

The guest concluded with a vow, saying, “We will NEVER EVER come back and looking to sell our DVC membership. They know they’ve got you on the hook and paying and treat you like garbage bc you’re stuck in a contract!” This sentiment echoes the frustrations of other guests who have faced similar challenges with Disney’s customer service, particularly when dealing with issues of theft and poor room conditions.

A Growing Concern for Disney’s Guest Experience

While theft is not uncommon at large theme parks, the family’s experience underscores a deeper issue with how Disney handles guest complaints and concerns. The incident raises questions about whether Disney is doing enough to address these issues, particularly when it comes to loyal guests who have invested in programs like DVC.

As the family’s story circulates on social media, more guests are speaking out about their own frustrations with Disney’s customer service policies and practices. Despite Disney’s efforts to provide a magical experience for all visitors, incidents like this highlight the growing gap between the company’s reputation for customer service and the experiences of some guests.

Walt Disney World Resort has not publicly commented on this specific incident, but as more families continue to voice their concerns, the company may face increased scrutiny over its guest support practices. For many, the magic of Disney is being overshadowed by frustrating service experiences and unresolved complaints. As these issues grow, guests are left wondering if Disney can truly restore the trust of its long-time patrons.
