Walt Disney World Resort Hotels 101 – An Overview of Accommodations on Disney Property

4. Campgrounds

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is in a unique class all its own, as only the featured Cabins can be comparable to Disney’s Moderate Resort category. These individual Cabins span a total of 504 square feet and include a queen-size bed, bunk bed, and double-size sleeper sofas; furnished kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave/convection oven, toaster, and coffee maker; a private bathroom, and all those other home-away-from-home touches, like televisions, Wi-Fi Internet, and AC. Housekeeping, also known as “MouseKeeping,” also attends to the Cabins just as you’d expect at any Walt Disney World Hotel. In all, up to six guests can comfortably be accommodated in the Cabins.

The Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, however, are more on par with the Value Resort range. Guests choosing to camp here get to set up their own tents or campers from a wide range of designated sites. For those bringing a camper or van-type vehicle and two tents there are Tent or Pop-Up Campsites that range in 10 feet by 25 feet rental spaces. Those with RVs plus a tent can enjoy Full Hook-Up Campsites that include sewage hook-up and span 10 feet by 50 feet. There are also Preferred Campsites that serve the same purpose and function, totaling 10 feet by 45 feet as well as Premium Campsites that boast an impressive 18 feet by 60 feet. All campsites can accommodate up to 10 guests and include access to all onsite amenities, including public restroom facilities, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, television and electrical hook-ups, charcoal grills, picnic tables, tap water, and more.

Whether you decide to stay in a Cabin or on the Campgrounds, rest assured that you are never left out in the wild at Fort Wilderness Resort. You’ll even find a wide and versatile range of restaurants here. Enjoy two Disney World-renowned dining venues right onsite—Mickey’s Backyard BBQ and the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Other satisfying picks include Trail’s End Restaurant, P& J’s Southern Takeout, the Chuck Wagon, and several others. Crockett’s Tavern even offers full bar service and pub grub snacks.

The many onsite recreations at this resort are pretty superb as well, with numerous original offerings to make for plenty of one-of-a-kind experiences. Some of the unique pursuits you will find here include archery; exploring the Tri-Circle-D-Ranch for carriage and wagon rides, pony rides, and horse-back riding; fishing; motorized boat and canoe/kayak rentals; Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long; swimming, and so much more. Roughing it out in the wild is never better than when you so at a Walt Disney World Resort.
