As the debate between fans, Cast Members, Disney Corporate Brass, and Florida Politicians rage over The Sunshine State’s new Parental Rights in Education Law, a member of the Disney family has made his stance clear.
Roy P. Disney–Grandson to Walt’s brother Roy O. Disney and son of the late Roy E. Disney–has come out against the bill passed by Gov. Ron DeSantis and revealed that he has a transgender child himself.
“My wife, Sheri, and I have been members of HRC for over 20 years,” Mr. Disney shared in an email to The Washington Times. “Equality matters deeply to us, especially because our child, Charlee, is transgender and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.”
“We were heartbroken when Ron DeSantis signed the ‘Don’t Say Gay or Trans’ law in Florida,” he continued. “The fight isn’t over, and we are determined to do everything we can to stop this from happening in other places.”

Now, it should be noted that nowhere in the Parental Rights in Education Law’s legislation does it warrant and promote discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community. Rather, it prevents all manner of sexuality and gender theory from being taught to school kids aged 5, 6, and 7.
“Parents have every right to be informed about services offered to their child at school and should be protected from schools using classroom instruction to sexualize their kids as young as 5 years old,” Mr. DeSantis said.
Talk also continues in Tallahassee as to the fate of Disney’s special Reedy Creek Improvement District after The Walt Disney Company announced that it would actively work to use its financial muscle and clout to try and repeal Florida Law.
It should also be mentioned that Roy P. Disney is not an active member of the Walt Disney Company’s board of directors, and it is unclear how much clout he has beyond having Disney as his last name.
