EPCOT’s nighttime spectacular, Harmonious, is said to be on its last leg, and fans wait for yet another brand new show to take over World Showcase Lagoon each night. But was this highly-anticipated show designed and choreographed specifically with the extra-cost dessert parties in mind?

One of the fans on the Disney World subreddit points out this potential conspiracy theory, saying,

The festival center situation is its own tangent, but the idea of Harmonious being specifically designed to sell either dessert parties or the fireworks dining packages is an interesting one.
While many Disney Fanatics would probably argue that there were still some spots that were better than others, Harmonious’ two predecessors, IllumiNations and EPCOT Forever, offered relatively equal viewing potential from almost all areas around World Showcase that were not blocked by trees or buildings. Harmonious brought set screens or water-spray projections that can arguably only really be seen from a limited amount of angles. In fact, unless one at the Italian Pavilion or Showcase Plaza, it is very difficult to actually see the center ring projection.

According to Disney World’s website, EPCOT offers special event seating in select areas as well as two Fireworks Dining Packages available at Spice Road Table in Morocco, and Rose & Crown in the U.K. So, the argument could be made that an expansion of these endeavors was always planned, especially at this point in Disney World history where Bob Chapek and Josh D’Amaro seem keen on upcharging every possible aspect of the Guest experience.Â
It should be noted though that this is just a theory, and all speculation should be taken with a grain of salt until official confirmation comes to light from Disney itself.
