In case you’re a Disney fan who hasn’t noticed, everyone is supposed to avoid talking about Bruno but everyone is talking about Bruno anyway. The notoriously-catchy song about the mysterious uncle Bruno from the Walt Disney Animation Studios movieĀ Encanto has been breaking records everywhere, even topping “Let It Go” and “A Whole New World” for popularity — and now, it’s been revealed thatĀ EncantoĀ fans can see the first live performance of the song during this year’s Academy Awards!
While it’s unclear so far if the voice actors from the actual Golden Globe award-winning animated movie Encanto will be the ones performing, the sheer popularity of the movie soundtrack version of the original song suggests that it’s likely. The harmonies and rounds in this musical number are, after all, one of its most impressive features!
UPDATE: We now know who will be performing!

The dance choreography is also impressive, and we’ll be excited to see how that choreography is handled onstage in a live performance. The costumes will probably be as beautiful as they are in the movie, too!

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is, ironically, not the Encanto song that composer Lin-Manuel Miranda chose to submit for an Oscar nomination. Instead, he chose to nominate the sad song “Dos Oruguitas” for the Best Original Song Academy Award with the explanation that the bittersweet music suited the movie’s overall theme better than the ominous tune about Bruno did. The fact that “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is being performed, however, suggests that this is the Academy’s way of recognizing the song’s smash hit status despite its lack of an Oscar nomination!
This year’s Oscars will air on Sunday, March 27 on ABC, and they will be hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes. Several other Disney or Marvel movies have been nominated for Oscars this year, too, so Disney fans or Marvel fans won’t want to miss it! Are you going to watch the 94th Academy Awards?
