Why You Absolutely SHOULD NOT Drink Splash Mountain Water

Splash Mountain warning

On January 23, Guests walked into Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park, unable to ride one of the most iconic attractions there. January 22 was the last day that Splash Mountain — which has been a Magic Kingdom staple for 30 years — was in operation. The attraction will be closed for almost two years, as Imagineers change it into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. On its final day, lines stretched through all of Frontierland, with Guests waiting more than three hours to take one last ride through the Briar Patch.

Thousands of people rode Splash Mountain on its last day, and some of them collected souvenirs to remember it by. Others thought they would try to make some money off of the ride’s nostalgia. Quickly after Splash Mountain closed, websites like eBay were flooded with people selling water they claimed was from Splash Mountain. That’s right, people collected (or supposedly collected) water that was from Splash Mountain, put it in jars — and even plastic bags, and are selling it online for those who want a piece of history.

With the rise of social media, Splash Mountain water is no longer just something that sits in a jar on one’s shelf. Some people will do anything to get attention on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, including dangerous things like drinking the water, or even cooking with it. And that’s a really great way to get incredibly sick, or even worse.

According to a report from the World Health Organization, there are a number of contaminants in the water that can make you extremely ill.

Contaminated water and poor sanitation are linked to transmission of diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid and polio. Absent, inadequate, or inappropriately managed water and sanitation services expose individuals to preventable health risks.

If that’s not bad enough, a man who claims to be a former Disney World Cast Member says that the water is full of things like spit, hydraulic fluid, coffee, and bird poop — all things you would not want to drink

While we wouldn’t recommend spending your hard-earned money on something that may or may not be water from Splash Mountain, we must insist that, if you do, DO NOT DRINK IT. Not for clicks, not for fun, not for anything.
