California is known to be a state that is prone to earthquakes because of its precarious position and relationship to the San Andreas Fault System.

For the second time this week, Friday afternoon saw locals in California feeling the effects of an earthquake in the region.

According to the United States Geological Survey, an earthquake hit the Malibu region of California and impacted surrounding areas including the Disneyland Resort. In fact, rides were stopped for a few minutes when the 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit at 1:47 p.m.

Shortly after this earthquake hit, another strong earthquake of higher magnitude, 5.7, hit Hawaii, followed by many aftershocks, according to the United States Geological Survey.

This is also not the first earthquake to affect Southern California this week. In fact, the earthquake on Friday comes just one day after a 3.8 magnitude earthquake hit Southern California late on Thursday afternoon.
