Per a guest report, there was a time when mechanics warned Disney that their parks would see the drop in quality they’re seeing today.
For many guests all over the world, going to either Disney World or the Disneyland Resort is a dream Disney vacation. Guests have to save up—sometimes for years—to be able to afford a Disney theme park visit. As a consequence, when things go wrong, it can be incredibly frustrating for fans.
Ride breakdowns plague Disneyland
Recently, a Disney guest took to social media to share, “i went this weekend and i feel like nearly every ride i went on broke down while i was in the queue. was this just my bad luck or is there something else going on in the park??”
Of course, as many fans know and can corroborate, ride breakdowns are a part and parcel of the Disney experience. But it’s undeniable that many times, these ride breakdowns can usurp one’s Disney vacation, especially when rides seemingly break down more than they don’t.
In the comments of the thread, many agreed that during their recent visits to the parks, they’d also noticed increased breakdowns in Disney park attractions.
One user commented, giving an explanation for why things had gotten so bad, “Before the park expanded throughout the last 20 years, there used to be a huge lot of parts leftover from the original construction of the rides. Ride mechanics used these often but when Eisner said it all had to go, the mechanics’ protests were overlooked. Sadly, rides breaking down is due to mismanagement.”
The Disney fan also shared who their source was for this information, they explained: “… a friend of mine was a City inspector and heard many stories from the people who had worked there for years keeping the gears turning. My guess is that not only the resourceful ‘junk yard’ of parts is gone, but these original mechanics are long gone, too.”
It’s important to note this is one guest’s explanation for why this might be the case, and the Walt Disney Company has not made any official statement on this occurrence.
