Just over thirty years ago, The Walt Disney Company decided that it wanted to bring the magic of Disney theme parks to Europe. After some research, they decided that the perfect place for a Resort would be in the beautiful country of France. In 1992, Disneyland Park officially opened in Chessy, France, about 20 miles from Paris. Then, ten years later, Walt Disney Studios Park opened, expanding the Disneyland Paris Resort. As you may remember, when it first opened, the area was called EuroDisney. However, that name only lasted for two years before it was changed to Disneyland Paris.

While Disneyland Paris is never considered the most popular Disney Resort, Guests love visiting it. The Parks have also gotten more popular in recent years, and Disneyland Paris has seen record earnings.

Disney Imagineers are always thinking about ways to keep things fresh and new. While Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort seem to see the most changes, that doesn’t mean that they have forgotten about the other Parks. And, this summer, Guests will see a ton of great rethemes taking over at both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park.

According to Disney, Pixar will be coming to Disneyland Paris as part of a major retheme! That’s right. Some of your favorite Pixar pals will be taking over the most magical place in Europe! Disney Parks Blog shared more on the Pixar changes that are coming to Disneyland Paris.

Over at Disneyland Park, Pizzeria Bella Notte will soon welcome a new room inspired by the Disney and Pixar film, “Luca.” And this summer, the Mexican-themed restaurant Fuente Del Oro in Frontierland will also transform into Casa de Coco – Restaurante de Familia. We’re un poco loco for this reimagining, which features Miguel’s passion for music and love for his family.

Across the way at Walt Disney Studios Park, “Toon Plaza” will soon be transformed into an immersive experience paying tribute to Pixar films. Walt Disney Imagineering has been working with Pixar artists to develop this whimsical space including a new raised backdrop featuring Ember and Wade from the upcoming original feature film, Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental.”

The Studio Theater at Walt Disney Studios Park will also see a brand-new Pixar show! “Together: A Pixar Musical Adventure” will debut this summer. The show will be approximately 30 minutes long and incorporate both English and French dialogue. There will be special effects, gorgeous choreography, and an eight-piece orchestra!

Toon Plaza is not the first toon-themed Disney area to undergo a massive transformation. Just last month, Mickey’s ToonTown in Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, reopened after a year-long closure. The entire area was beautified and made into more of a play area for families with younger children. The newly reimagined ToonTown also has a brand-new attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Disneyland Resort will see even more Pixar-theming when Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel reopens as Pixar Place. Disney has not announced when Pixar Place will officially open. The hotel will complement Disney’s Pixar Pier, which opened at Disney’s California Adventure Park in 2018.
