Twenty-three years ago, Disney fans met Mia Thermopolis, a teenage girl who felt nearly invisible to everyone around her. Thankfully, she had her mom and her best friend Lilly, who were always by her side. Mia’s world is turned upside down when her grandmother, Clarisse, suddenly shows up and tells Mia that she is actually the Princess of a kingdom called Genovia. Mia must then learn everything there is to know about how to lead a country she has never even heard of.

Three years after the release of The Princess Diaries, Disney released The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Mia is now getting ready to become the Queen of Genovia but learns that the only way she can do that is if she gets married. She tries to find the perfect man but doesn’t expect to develop feelings for her frenemy, Nicholas Devereaux, played by Chris Pine.
Ever since the second movie came out, fans have been begging for Disney to continue Princess Mia’s story. And, in 2022, Disney confirmed that a third movie was in the works. And now have even BIGGER news!

Anne Hathaway has officially confirmed her role as Mia Thermopolis in Princess Diaries 3. The actress, who starred in the original films, posted on social media expressing her excitement for the new installment.

Adele Lim has been chosen to direct Princess Diaries 3, signaling a significant new direction for the franchise.
