EPCOT Mexico Area Remains Closed After February 10 Shutdown

Scaffolding continues to expand around the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion pyramid at EPCOT, two weeks after one entrance closed for refurbishment, with no timeline announced for completion.

WDWNT reported on February 24 that construction supports now extend significantly farther to the left from the blocked doorway toward backstage areas near the World Discovery and World Celebration neighborhoods.

Closure Began February 10

Disney Fanatic reported the initial closure when scaffolding appeared around the left-side entrance/right-side exit earlier this month. A sign inside directs Disney Park guests to “please use the left-side exit.”

A support column was installed near the exit doors inside the pyramid, suggesting crews are performing ductwork or interior infrastructure maintenance. The building houses most pavilion shops, San Angel Inn Restaurante, and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros.

The scaffolding originally surrounded just the closed entrance doors. Construction supports have now expanded considerably, extending farther left toward backstage areas.

All Mexico Pavilion offerings inside the pyramid remain operational, including San Angel Inn Restaurante, Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros, and merchandise locations. EPCOT guests access the building through the single open entrance.

Walt Disney World Resort has not announced its plans for the pyramid or a completion timeline. The expanding scaffolding suggests work may be more extensive than initially visible, though Disney hasn't confirmed what's being repaired or upgraded.

The partial closure forces all guest traffic through one entrance, potentially creating congestion during busy periods when San Angel Inn sees heavy restaurant traffic, and the Gran Fiesta Tour attracts riders. The single access point serves as both the entry and the exit for all pavilion activities within the pyramid structure.
