EPCOT Confirms Multi-Month France Pavilion Closure at Disney World

Another closure is officially coming to EPCOT, and this one is expected to last much longer than many guests may have anticipated.

Disney has confirmed that La Signature, the Guerlain fragrance and cosmetics location inside EPCOT’s France Pavilion, will temporarily close beginning June 8, 2026. According to Disney, the closure is expected to continue for multiple months, with the boutique currently planned to reopen later in the year.

For many guests, the France Pavilion has become one of EPCOT’s biggest destinations. What was once viewed primarily as a quieter World Showcase stop has evolved into one of the busiest sections of the park thanks to major additions over the last several years.

Now, one of the pavilion’s more unique experiences is being taken offline right in the middle of the summer travel season.

France Pavilion Became One of EPCOT’s Biggest Hotspots

The transformation of EPCOT’s France Pavilion has been impossible to ignore.

The arrival of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure dramatically changed crowd patterns throughout World Showcase, bringing thousands of additional guests deeper into the pavilion every single day. Disney also added La Crêperie de Paris, expanded pathways, and introduced new shopping experiences that helped turn France into one of the park’s most complete areas.

Today, it is difficult to walk through the pavilion without seeing large crowds almost constantly moving through the streets.

That growing popularity helped shine more attention on locations like La Signature.

The boutique offers guests luxury French fragrances, skincare items, cosmetics, and makeup consultations from Guerlain. Unlike traditional Disney gift shops, the store leans heavily into a real-world Parisian atmosphere that fits perfectly within the pavilion’s overall design.

That immersive feeling is a huge part of why World Showcase remains so beloved among Disney fans.

Each pavilion offers something slightly different. Some focus heavily on food. Others emphasize shopping, architecture, entertainment, or cultural details. France has become one of the strongest overall pavilion experiences because it balances all of those elements together.

That is why even a temporary closure like this becomes noticeable.

Disney Will Relocate Merchandise During the Closure

Guests visiting EPCOT during the refurbishment will still be able to purchase Guerlain products elsewhere in the pavilion.

Disney confirmed that merchandise from La Signature will temporarily move to Plume et Palette while work is taking place. That should help reduce the impact for guests specifically visiting EPCOT to shop for fragrances or cosmetics.

Still, the closure itself leaves a visible gap inside one of the pavilion’s busiest shopping areas.

Disney has not revealed exactly what work will happen during the project. The company has only stated that the boutique will reopen later in 2026, without offering a firm reopening date.

That broad timeline has become fairly common across Walt Disney World projects lately.

Disney often leaves flexibility built into refurbishment schedules in case construction timelines shift, especially at EPCOT, where projects over the last several years have frequently evolved behind the scenes.

EPCOT Continues Operating in a Near-Constant State of Change

Although EPCOT’s massive transformation project has largely wrapped up, the park still feels like it is constantly evolving.

Construction walls may no longer dominate the front entrance area the way they once did, but Disney continues refreshing smaller spaces throughout the park on a regular basis. Shops, dining locations, attraction areas, and pavilion experiences continue receiving updates as EPCOT slowly settles into its newest identity.

World Showcase presents a unique challenge for Disney, though.

The company has to modernize spaces while also protecting the cultural atmosphere guests expect. That balance becomes especially important in pavilions like France, where so much of the experience relies on immersion and visual storytelling rather than major rides alone.

The boutique helped reinforce the idea that EPCOT’s international pavilions offer experiences beyond standard theme park shopping. Guests stepping inside found high-end displays, luxury fragrance collections, and a quieter environment that contrasted heavily with the crowds outside.

For now, that experience will temporarily disappear.

Summer Crowds Will Notice the Difference

The timing of the closure is also important.

Beginning June 8 places the project directly into one of Walt Disney World’s busiest travel periods. Summer crowds at EPCOT can already create congestion inside the France Pavilion thanks to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and the pavilion’s dining locations.

Removing one of the shopping experiences could slightly shift guest flow throughout the area.

Even so, Disney clearly believes the refurbishment is necessary now rather than waiting until a slower time of year.

And EPCOT fans know this likely will not be the last change the park sees in 2026.

The resort continues adjusting operations, refreshing older spaces, and preparing for future additions as Disney balances nostalgia with modernization across Walt Disney World.

For now, though, guests visiting EPCOT this summer should prepare for at least one noticeable closure inside World Showcase.

And because France has become such a central part of the EPCOT experience, many returning fans will absolutely notice the difference.
