New James Bond Actor Officially Joins 007 Franchise Ahead of Amazon MGM Reboot, Speaks Out on Role

A new James Bond actor has officially been cast, although this particular 007 isn't the one currently dominating the headlines.

Isaac Rouse (The Crown) will voice the teenage version of the legendary spy in Young Bond: SilverFin Part 1 (2026), an upcoming full-cast audio drama adaptation from Big Finish Productions and Ian Fleming Publications. The project announced Rouse's casting in August after more than 500 applications were submitted, followed by 12 in-person auditions.

What Is the New James Bond Series About?

The audio drama adapts Charlie Higson's SilverFin (2005), which follows James Bond during his school days at Eton. His first day at the school quickly leads to an enemy and a dangerous mystery surrounding Loch SilverFin, where a secret threatens to plunge the world into a new era of warfare.

Rouse's casting is only one part of a particularly busy period for 007. Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) is already playing a younger Bond in 007 First Light (2026), the third-person action-adventure video game from IO Interactive which reimagines Bond as a 26-year-old Royal Navy air crewman recruited into MI6. It was released earlier this year to critical praise.

The literary franchise is also continuing to expand. Kim Sherwood's Hurricane Room, Vaseem Khan's The Man with the Golden Compass, Charlie Higson's King Zero, and M. W. Craven's James Bond and the Secret Agent Academy are among the new Bond books arriving throughout 2026 and 2027.

But Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming James Bond film is what's demanding all the attention right now. Denis Villeneuve (the Dune films) is directing the untitled reboot and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) writing. Speculation about who will play the new 007 following Daniel Craig's departure from the role has been heating up in recent weeks, with Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) emerging as a top contender.

So while fans wait for the next big-screen 007, Bond is already being played by a new generation in audio and gaming.

Young Bond: SilverFin is scheduled to arrive in October 2026.
