Universal Guests Face Travel Disruption: 5 Key Attractions Closed This October

October travelers heading to Universal Orlando Resort have plenty to look forward to, especially once the sun goes down. Halloween Horror Nights will keep Universal Studios Florida busy throughout the month.

During the day, though, the parks will look a little different.

Five familiar Universal experiences won't be available to October 2026 visitors. Three are temporarily closed, while two have permanently ended their runs. Guests returning after a year or two away could encounter more changes than they expect.

Here's what October guests will be missing.

Horror Make-Up Show Misses the Perfect Month

If there were one month when Universal Orlando's Horror Make-Up Show seems like a natural fit, October would probably be it.

Unfortunately, guests won't be able to experience the longtime Universal Studios Florida show during spooky season.

Universal closed the attraction on May 12, 2026, for a major refurbishment. The reimagined experience isn't expected to return until winter 2026.

The show stands apart from Universal's traditional rides by mixing comedy with demonstrations of how horror effects come to life.

Its closure is especially noticeable during Halloween Horror Nights. Guests won't be able to catch the horror-focused experience during the afternoon before transitioning to haunted houses and scare zones after dark.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Is Already Gone

Other October absences aren't temporary.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit permanently closed at Universal Studios Florida in August 2025 after roughly 16 years of operation.

The coaster's towering lift hill had become a familiar part of the skyline near the park entrance, making its removal noticeable for anyone returning after several years away.

Universal removed Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit to make room for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.

The new roller coaster is scheduled to open in 2027, meaning October 2026 visitors will arrive during the transition between the two attractions.

Jurassic Park River Adventure Has a Longer Wait

Meanwhile, Universal Islands of Adventure is missing its own major attraction.

Jurassic Park River Adventure has been closed since January 5, 2026, for a lengthy refurbishment. The attraction will remain unavailable throughout October and is currently scheduled to reopen on November 20.

Jurassic Park River Adventure takes guests aboard boats through Jurassic Park, where encounters with dinosaurs eventually lead to an 85-foot plunge.

With Orlando temperatures remaining hot in October, the absence of a major water attraction could be particularly noticeable during long days at Islands of Adventure.

Finnegan's Won't Be Serving October Guests

Back at Universal Studios Florida, visitors in October will also have one fewer place for a traditional sit-down meal.

Finnegan's Bar & Grill closed January 12, 2026, for an extensive refurbishment and isn't expected to return until winter 2026.

The Irish-American pub sits across from Revenge of the Mummy in one of the park's busier areas. Guests who previously stopped there for a meal or a longer break from the crowds will need an alternative.

That could matter even more during Halloween Horror Nights season, when crowds descend on Universal Studios Florida for Halloween entertainment.

Fast & Furious: Supercharged Won't Return

The most recent permanent closure happened only a few months before October.

Fast & Furious: Supercharged welcomed its final guests on August 16, 2026. Beginning August 17, the Universal Studios Florida attraction officially closed for good.

The ride had operated since 2018, taking guests aboard a party bus for an adventure featuring characters from the Fast & Furious franchise.

Fast & Furious isn't finished at Universal Orlando Resort, however.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is scheduled to open at Universal Studios Florida in 2027 as a completely different roller coaster experience. October guests will arrive after Supercharged's closure but before its successor debuts.

Halloween Still Takes Center Stage

With five familiar experiences unavailable, October guests may need to adjust a few vacation plans.

Jurassic Park River Adventure, Finnegan's Bar & Grill, and Universal Orlando's Horror Make-Up Show remain temporarily closed. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and Fast & Furious: Supercharged are permanently gone.

Still, October remains one of Universal Orlando's biggest times for Halloween fans.

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 continues throughout the month at Universal Studios Florida with haunted houses, scare zones, entertainment, specialty food, and late-night scares.

Several familiar experiences may be missing, but October still gives Universal visitors plenty to do once spooky season takes over.
