The children’s show Bluey has become internationally popular and a lightning rod for controversy. Unlike other shows, the Australian show tackles real-world issues like infertility, death, and miscarriages in a way children can understand.
The sensitivity of the topics requires families to watch Bluey together and discuss the issues like the Heeler Family does in the show.

It’s this bringing together of families that has made Bluey so popular. It started in Australia in 2018, but only a year later, the Walt Disney Company purchased its international rights to bring it to the world. It has since become the most popular show on Disney Plus.
But Disney Plus and Bluey creator Joe Brumm recently announced that could portend a new direction for the series.
Disney Plus announced that Bluey will debut a new episode, “Ghostbasket,” on Sunday, April 7. “Ghostbasket” will be a standard-length episode. But the following week, Bluey will debut “The Sign,” which will be a 28 minute special episode. The extended episode will be the show’s longest episode ever.
The new episodes will first debut on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), and then roll out on Disney Plus, Disney Junior, and the Disney Channel across the globe.
But despite the changes in the length of its latest episode, Bluey Fans can rest assured that it will be similar to the show’s other episodes. Both were written by Joe Brumm and directed by Richard Jeffery. Ludo Studio produced them.
Bluey follows the adventures of a blue Heeler puppy named Bluey. Bluey has a younger sister, Bingo, and his mom and dad, Bandit and Chili Heeler. The show was created as a joint partnership between ABC Children’s and BBC Studios Kids and Family.
But since its debut on the Australia Broadcast Corporation, it’s gone from a cute little show to an international favorite. But it also comes with a warning to parents that some of its content may be too sensitive for some children.
The proof is in the numbers. Bluey is the number-one streaming show for preschoolers and kids, and the second-most streamed series across all age groups. So, with these massive numbers, Bluey fans can expect many more special episodes and new seasons soon on Disney Plus.
You can find Bluey at the Walt Disney World Resort if you can’t wait for new episodes.
