Bob Iger Supports Controversial Designer During Met Gala and Ignores DeSantis Questions

Apparently, Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger is not done causing scandals or political upsets!

Iger, who returned from semi-retirement to replace now-former Disney CEO Bob Chapek at the helm of the Walt Disney Company, just attended the 2023 Met Gala at the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City,

Unfortunately, Iger was attending a Met Gala honoring a particularly-problematic deceased fashion designer — and the Disney CEO also wore shoes that paid homage to the designer in a unique Disney way.

Iger wore a pair of $299 white sneakers from the Disney x Karl Lagerfeld collection, which is a collection of clothing and accessories that range in price from $48 to $469.

This accessory choice is no coincidence; Disney+ actually recently announced plans for a Karl Lagerfeld documentary as well, which will surprisingly be called Kaiser Karl.

As with any other Met Gala, many additional Disney, Marvel, or Star Wars celebrities attended the red carpet event (despite this particular Met Gala’s somewhat problematic theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty”).

Disney attendees included Elle Fanning, Halle Bailey (i.e. the new Little Mermaid), and many others.

Since Karl Lagerfeld was a public figure associated with many concerning controversies, scandals, and offensive comments, Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger’s implicit support of the late designer will most likely surprise many Disney fans or Disney stockholders.

Iger, who can be seen in the Tweet shown above at last night’s Met Gala alongside A-list actress (and Disney star) Anne Hathaway, deftly dodged questions about the Disney lawsuit against Florida’s governor, Governor Ron DeSantis, during the red carpet interviews.

Take a look at Iger’s deflection in the Tweet shown below!

Were you surprised to learn that someone like Disney’s CEO would attend the Met Gala, and that the attendees are not all movie stars?
