Canadians Boycott Trump’s America En Masse, Cancel Disney Vacations

In recent months, a growing number of Canadians have vowed to cancel their trips to Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, citing political tensions with the U.S. government under President Donald Trump. What started as concerns over tariffs and political rhetoric has now led to a significant decline in Canadian visitors to the United States.

The fallout began after President Trump, upon returning to the White House, threatened to impose harsh tariffs on Canada, straining the long-standing trade relationship between the two countries. His remarks, including a threat to annex Canada as the “51st state,” caused alarm, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responding by urging Canadians to “Choose Canada” for their summer vacations.

Days ago, Trump told NBC’s Meet the Press that he would discuss annexation plans with newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Carney, in turn, reiterated that Canada was “not for sale.

The political climate has led many Canadians to reconsider their travel plans to the United States.

“We cancelled our two week trip in March and are going to Mexico for a week and then the other week planning a staycation here in Canada,” u/elloittclan wrote on Reddit.

“We had plans for September. Fly to San Diego, stay near Balboa Park, see the San Diego Zoo. Then we were going to take the Surfliner to Anaheim, stay for 5 days, and visit Disneyland Parks for 3 days,” u/travlynme2 replied. “We are not going now. Maybe, never. Hopefully in four years. I am sad this was my bucket list.”

The numbers are showing the consequences of these cancellations. According to MLive, the number of Canadians returning to Canada by car at the Michigan border dropped by 1.5 million in March. This marks the third consecutive month of declining Canadian visitors, and the trend extends beyond the Michigan border, with fewer Canadians flying into U.S. airports. As some of the most popular vacation destinations, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort have undoubtedly been impacted by this travel slowdown.

While Disney has not officially confirmed a decline in Canadian visitors to its parks, the signs are clear. The political situation has led many Canadians to rethink their vacations, and Disney, as a major player in U.S. tourism, has likely felt the effect.

  1. I completely understand why the Canadians feel the way they do. I just hope they understand that many Americans feel the same way and wish our President would stop acting stupid. Now, he wants a military parade (like dictators do) for his birthday! Unfortunately, we have to live with this embarrassment in out White House for another 4 years.

  2. As a Canadian and DVC member we will not be returning to the US until the orange maggots 4 years are done or he completely removes all tariffs, follows the trade deal HE SIGNED and shows Canada the respect it deserves. Until then not one nickel and 1 minute will I spend in the good ole US of A
