The forever-upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean 6 movie continues to linger in Hollywood limbo (even though its Disney theme park counterpart seems to be approaching a more definite and tragic end in the Magic Kingdom), but Disney fans are continuing to clamor for more Captain Jack Sparrow instead of new characters like a pirate version of Margot Robbie.
Disney Fans, Do a Double-Take
We might not actually have any official news about Johnny Depp’s return to his role, sadly, but we do have plenty of fan-made fodder regarding the potential plotlines of Pirates of the Caribbean 6, including a brand new in-depth trailer that is chock-full of Jack Sparrow goodness!
This teaser trailer has already started to make the rounds on the Internet as fans do a double-take upon clicking “play” — much like the Fern Gully and Moana teaser trailers that were recently released, which featured A-list actress Zendaya in both of the lead roles.
Fun, or Fraudulent?
Making their own fake trailers for films can be a fun creative endeavor for fans of certain series, but it also comes with an element of deception.
Oftentimes, if the trailer is edited well, it will actually trick viewers like Disney Fanatics for at least a few minutes — and because Disney fans are so eager to see more of Captain Jack Sparrow, this trailer’s inclusion of him could have been particularly frustrating for them if “Fan Trailer” hadn’t been included in the Youtube video title!
Disney (and Jerry Bruckheimer) are undoubtedly aware of their audiences’ desires for more Captain Jack Sparrow, as well as for more Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom) and Captain Elizabeth Swann (played by Keira Knightley). Even Captain Barbossa, Tia Dalma, Davy Jones, or Mr. Gibbs would be welcome!
The powers that be are most likely familiar with fan-made trailers like this one, as well, not to mention the general consensus that failing to bring back Johnny Depp for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie would be (as this website put it) “the worst possible decision Disney could make.”
Do you enjoy fan-made teaser trailers, or do you find them to be more frustrating than anything else?
