It will be no surprise for many Disney Fanatics to hear that “Frozen Fever” is still going strong.
Frozen Fever Rages
Ever sinceĀ FrozenĀ first told the tale of Anna and Elsa in the Norway-inspired kingdom of Arendelle back in 2013, Disney has capitalized on the film’s enormous success.
EPCOT has aĀ FrozenĀ ride,Ā FrozenĀ merchandise continues to be in demand, and the film sequelĀ Frozen 2Ā brought plenty of wonderful new music (such as āInto the Unknown”) into the fold alongside the iconic song āLet it Go.”
Anna and Elsa are actually so self-sufficient as a franchise that they’re supposedly not even considered to be official Disney princesses!
Now, Disney has expanded theĀ FrozenĀ franchise even further with an upcoming podcast calledĀ Forces of Nature, which is coming in October.
This podcast will take listeners on a 12-episode-long adventure with Anna and Elsa in the Enchanted Forest — but until now, it was unclear whether or not the original actors fromĀ FrozenĀ would be returning for their roles.
No News Might Not Be Good News…
So far, we are (unfortunately) seeing no signs indicating that Kristin Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad will be back for their voiceover roles when it comes to this podcast.
The newly-inaugurated Disney Legends are supposed to be back for Frozen 3,Ā which has finally been confirmed!
However, if this quartet has indeed been recast for the podcast — which seems plausible when the ongoing strikes are considered, and considering the A-list actors’ very busy schedules — then Disney will have made a somewhat disappointing choice in the minds of many Disney fans.
Will New Actors Be Doomed to Fail?
After all, voices like Idina Menzel’s distinct throaty tones and Josh Gad’s bright tenor soundĀ are a significant part of their characters’ personas.
Any actor or actress hired to impersonate the original actors will most likely have to contend with negative opinions right out of the gate!
The newĀ Frozen podcastĀ will apparently follow Elsa and Queen Anna as they return to the Enchanted Forest to understand why the Spirits of Nature are “acting up”, and why there are “mysterious copper machines that are disrupting the natural order of things.ā
Smaller subplots will include “a friend in need” and new characters like the Duke of Weselton’s nephew!
Will you listen to this podcast in October, even if it features different actors in the main roles?
