Disney has announced a new Frozen podcast in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the beloved, fan-favorite movie, which was released in 2013.
Ten years ago, Disney fans all around the world were treated to what would become one of the most beloved franchises of all time with the release of Frozen in 2013. The film tells the story of Princess Anna and Princess Elsa.
As written by Box Office Mojo, “When the newly crowned Queen Elsa accidentally uses her power to turn things into ice to curse her home in infinite winter, her sister Anna teams up with a mountain man, his playful reindeer, and a snowman to change the weather condition.”
Frozen won the hearts of everyone who watched it and was one of the Walt Disney Company’s most successful IPs. The company even announced that Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris would be getting a new Frozen-themed land, Kingdom of Arendelle—Walt Disney Imagineering outdid themselves with Elsa’s Ice Palace for this one—and World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland. A version of the land is also coming to Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea in Tokyo Disney Resort.
Now, in a renewed celebration of the movie, Disney is releasing an all-new Frozen podcast called The Disney Frozen Podcast: Forces of Nature which features an all-new story and picks up after the events of Frozen 2. The upcoming original podcast features a 12-episode standalone adventure.
The podcast brings back some favorites from Arendelle—including Anna, Elsa, and Olaf—and introduces new faces for this epic new journey. It will also feature ABC News’s chief meteorologist Ginger Zee as a voice presenter. In the past, Zee hosted ABC Audio’s Inside Frozen 2 podcast.
Is Disney Thinking About a Frozen 3?
Yes! Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the Walt Disney Company has greenlit and is working on a third Frozen movie. The Walt Disney Company CEO mentioned that Toy Story and Zootopia would also be getting sequels.
What is Frozen Based Off?
Frozen is loosely based on the Hans Christian Andersen story of The Snow Queen. The story was published in 1845. The tale opens with a magic mirror created by trolls shattering, thereby causing pieces to lodge in the heart and eye of a boy named Kai.
The incident causes Kai to leave home to go and live with the Snow Queen. His playmate, Gerda, goes in search of Kai, and after many adventures, she finds him and helps free him from the queen.
