Cinderella Castle Won’t Look As Festive This Holiday Season

For the second year in a row, a holiday season staple won’t be returning to Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom.

There’s nothing like a Disney Park during the holidays. Be it during the spooky season during Halloween with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, the upcoming Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and the general festivities that come up every year, there’s nowhere quite in the world that does the holidays the way a Disney Theme Park does be that EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom or the Disneyland Resort in Southern California.

But all this said, Cinderella Castle will not be the same this Christmas season, as a beloved offering will not return to Walt Disney World for the second consecutive year.

Many Guests’ were quite disappointed to find that the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights will not return to Magic Kingdom this year: the popular offering is not listed on the Park’s website for the holiday season.

In the past, thousands of twinkling lights lit up the night sky in a ceremony with Queens Elsa and Anna illuminating the iconic Castle. However, during the pandemic, Disney decided not to display the Castle Dream Lights. Instead, they organized special projection effects to give a festive look to Cinderella Castle, providing Guests with a colorful backdrop for photos.

Many fans expected to see this beloved offering open in 2021 after the Parks reopened post-pandemic. But Cinderella Castle Deam Lights did not come back, and it appears, and will not do so this year either. It’s possible that this decision comes after the 50th-anniversary decorations that have adorned Cinderella Castle since October of 2021, but it’s important to note that Disney has not stated an official reason for this decision.

Despite this, Magic Kingdom will still be exciting and decked out for the holidays. It will be packed with all things merry and bright with sensational delights that include Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Castle projections, seasonal décor, limited-time treats, and special merchandise.
