A couple shared their shocking anecdote of how and why they spent over $1200 for a short two-day trip to Disney.
A woman recently shared that she and her husband chose to spend $1000 for one full day at the Walt Disney World Resort without their children, and the couple “spent 14 hours in the theme parks, rode over 10 attractions, and ate our favorite foods.”
Here’s the story.
Theme Park Journalist Splurges on Disney Vacation for Herself and Husband
As Terri Peters wrote for Business Insider, she is an Annual Passholder and theme park journalist who spends a lot of time at Disney World. Going on a Disney vacation was once a tradition for the family, but off-late, Peters’ teens have been less interested in doing long days at the Disney Resort.
However, Peters and her husband still love going together, and recently, Peters “paid over $1,000 for us to spend a full day (from park-open to park-close) at Disney World.”
Here’s what the couple splurged on at the Disney Park to rack up that bill!
- A two-night stay at Coronado Springs Resort, which costs about $500 total for the two nights
- A $60 meal at eet by Maneet—an Indian-inspired Disney World restaurant helmed by “Chopped” judge Maneet Chauhan—in Disney Springs
- Both Peters and her husband purchased Genie+ for the day: $30/each
- The couple also chose to opt for an Individual Lightning Lane where needed for certain Disney Park rides, spending an extra $12 each to skip the line
Along with this, the couple also enjoyed a $75 lunch at Steakhouse 71 at the Central Florida Disney Resort, and spent “more than $100 extra” for line-skipping services through their day at the Magic Kingdom and at EPCOT.
The couple concluded their day at Disney World restaurant Shiki-Sai, meeting friends for dinner at the Japanese-inspired restaurant. The meal cost them another $20o. Finally, they took a Minnie Van back to their hotel.
As Peters explained, “From Lightning Lanes and park tickets to Mickey-shaped snacks, our total for the adults-only trip was over $1,200.”
However, this is notably one of the few times where Disney’s pricing on its own has not been the driving force behind the incredibly high cost of a Disney vacation.
Off-late, many fans have been complaining about the price of going to either Disneyland Resort or Disney World, explaining how out of range it is with respect to affordability.
However, the return of perks like the Disney Dining Plan, and many a specially-priced ticket, are meant to help reduce costs and allow more people back into Disney!
