A Disney vacation has always been an expensive experience, between airfare, hotels, food, park tickets, merchandise, and more. However, most people would have argued that the money was worth the experience. That is not the case as much anymore. Disney is still expensive, but now, the average family is priced out, and a lot of people who visit think that it’s no longer worth the price tag. Everything has gotten more expensive, while the quality is not what it once was. There are also several free (and popular) extras that have been taken away.

Disney has six theme parks around the world — Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disneyland Resort in California, Tokyo Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. Walt Disney World Resort is far and away the most popular Disney Resort. Not far behind is Disneyland Resort, Walt’s original theme park. While not as popular as the American parks, Disney’s global theme parks are becoming more popular by the day. Disneyland Paris recently experienced its most profitable year ever.

Mario Zelaya and his family live in Canada and recently decided to take a trip to Disneyland Paris. After they got back from their trip, Zelaya said that he had made a mistake going to the Parisian parks. Disneyland Paris consists of Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney Village, and seven onsite hotels to choose from.

He went on TikTok and spoke about the outrageous price he had to pay and the even more outrageous attraction wait times. He even said that he was “embarrassed” by the amount of money he spent.

Here’s the Disney rules: 1) Expect crazy long wait times 2) if you dont want to wait in line, expect a huge bill to upgrade to a Premier Pass. 3) if you decide to wait in line instead because the Premier pass doesnt cover ALL the rides, expect a huge bill regardless 😭 #disney #disneylandparis #paris #longlineup #expensive

Originally, Zelaya said that the park tickets were not that expensive — coming in at €112. But then, they decided to upgrade to the Premier Access Pass for each ticket, which added another €160 to each ticket. That means that he spent more than $1,600 Canadian on the park tickets alone.

The tickets were the only part of his Disneyland Paris that he was shocked by. His family had purchased the Premier Access Pass, which meant that they had FastPasses to the front of the lines. Zelaya noted that even the kiddy rides had wait times of more than an hour. He did the math and said that, if his family didn’t have Premier Access, they would have spent more than 25 hours waiting in line.

That’s right, his family would have spent more than one whole day just waiting in line. Doing some more math, Zelaya said that families were better off visiting for a day or two and spending the extra money on Premier Access. That’s because if they just bought a three-day pass with no Premier Access, one whole day of the trip would be wasted in line.

In the end, Zelaya had a suggestion for any family thinking of going on a Disney vacation — don’t do it. And if you are going to do it, then spend the money on bypassing the lines, so you can get the most out of your trip.
