Date Possibly Revealed for Gift Shop Reopening, TRON Construction Milestone

Tron Tomorrowland

The reopening date of the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. may have been revealed, possibly marking a subtle but significant milestone in the latest construction phase of the TRON: Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster.

According to the Walt Disney World Resort website, the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. building, which serves as a Tomorrowland gift shop, small arcade, and exit point of Space Mountain, is officially closed for refurbishment through Saturday, November 5. But, it disappears from the list for the remainder of the calendar from November 6 – December 13 (at the time of this article’s publication, that is).

It should be noted that the lack of confirmation regarding the store’s continued closure does not necessarily confirm that it will reopen on Sunday, November 6. We at Disney Fanatic will continue to monitor this story and will share any official confirmation from the Walt Disney World Resort once it comes to light.

The Tomorrow Light & Power Co. was shuttered for refurbishment due to the continued construction of the latest roller coaster addition to Magic Kingdom Park. Concept art had set the expectation that the pathway to TRON’s entrance would extend alongside and past this building. Due to this correlation, the gift shop’s reopening could signal a small measurable point in the construction of the attraction’s thoroughfare. This could also serve as an indicator of how just far along the recent work has gotten in the area surrounding the ride building.

After almost six full years since its first announcement, TRON: Lightcycle Power Run is expected to open sometime during Spring 2023. Unfortunately, even though the tracks are now back in their place, the Walt Disney World Railroad is still expected to remain closed at the time of this article’s publication through the middle of December.
