It’s a new day for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. After announcing the suspension of his presidential campaign over the weekend, satire news is giving DeSantis all the attention with false reports of DeSantis bussing migrants to Disney World.

Disney vs. DeSantis

The ongoing battle between Governor DeSantis and Disney has been constant for over a year. Disney Fanatic and other Disney sites (as well as news outlets) have reported on it multiple times.

But after the fights over Reedy Creek Improvement District, Educational content in Florida, and the Parental Rights in Education bill (AKA “Don’t Say Gay Bill”), the battle continues.

Fake News

According to a fake news report, one of the more controversial decisions by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over the past year (separate from the Disney fight) was sending illegal immigrants to other states and cities in the country. They note it appears that Gov. DeSantis is combining the two issues into one and sending busses full of migrants to The Most Magical Place on Earth.

If this story sounds too ridiculous to believe…that’s because it’s actually picked up from a Disney Parody website named Mouse Trap News.

The parody piece of news reports that after getting to America, migrants are asked, of course, “What are you going to do next?” a la Super Bowl winners.

And of course, the response of some is “I’m going to Disney World!” And Gov. Ron DeSantis is choosing to give them what they want.

The news article states that since Walt Disney World Resort is always so welcoming, the Florida Governor is all too happy to send them to the theme parks and hotels.

The piece further states that Walt Disney World Resort is giving these migrants hotel rooms, free Disney park tickets, and food vouchers to use throughout Walt Disney World.

However, this has created a stir among parkgoers as lines for rides like Space Mountain and the Tower of Terror are longer than ever. But The Walt Disney Company can’t afford the bad public relations issue of removing the migrants.

So, this has put Disney in a uniquely complicated situation.

About Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
