When we think of a trip to Disney World, we often envision a fantastic vacation where we can destress and relax. However, for one Disney guest, her recent visit took an unexpected turn when she pleaded for trust after being reportedly accused of dishonesty by a Disney cast member.

Disney Cast Member Accuses Guest of Lying

In a heartfelt post in the r/WaltDisneyWorld subreddit, the guest shared her unusual and disheartening encounter with a guest service employee during her visit to Walt Disney World in Florida. She began her story by stressing her admiration for Disney’s cast members and their challenging role in creating a memorable guest experience. She emphasized that she always strives to be respectful and courteous to them.

Her day at the park began unassumingly with exciting rides and a hearty breakfast. Yet, as she embarked on her journey to experience the popular attraction Avatar Flight of Passage using the Lightning Lane system, things took a surprising turn.

Around 10:00 a.m., just an hour before her scheduled Lightning Lane reservation for Avatar Flight of Passage at 11:00 a.m., she noticed that her reservation had mysteriously disappeared from her Disney Genie+ app. This left her puzzled and concerned, prompting her to seek assistance from guest services.

However, her visit to the location was far from what she had anticipated. She explained her situation to a cast member and claimed she was initially met with skepticism. The employee allegedly suggested that her transaction might not have gone through despite her showing proof of the confirmed reservation.

The cast member then left to call for support and reportedly accused the guest of having scanned into Avatar Flight of Passage at 9:30 a.m., earlier than her reservation time. In essence, she was being accused of attempting to cheat the system.

The guest attempted to explain that she couldn’t have checked in at 9:30 a.m. since her reservation wasn’t until 11:00 a.m. She also raised the possibility that another ride, Kilimanjaro Safari, which they had scanned into at 9:30 a.m., might have caused the issue. However, the cast member apparently asserted that her scenario was impossible.

Lightning Lane Lies?

Frustrated and hurt by the accusations, the guest wondered if anyone else on Reddit had faced a similar situation or if lying about Lightning Lane reservations was common. She also questioned what had led the Cast Member to assume she was attempting to cheat.

Thankfully, another Disney cast member intervened to shed light on the situation. They revealed that the issue the guest experienced was actually a park-wide problem that had occurred a few days prior.

They explained that many attractions had faced glitches, and it was entirely plausible that the Lightning Lane for Avatar Flight of Passage had appeared during their visit to Kilimanjaro Safari.

Hi! Tron CM here. This was actually a park wide issue that happened a couple of days ago where it would show us a different LL than what you had purchased/booked. I am 150% confident that at the Safaris your Flight LL popped up and the CM overrode it. Almost every attraction was having this issue so yes I believe you

Feeling Validated and Seen

The guest was visibly relieved upon reading the TRON cast member’s response. She expressed her gratitude for hearing directly from an employee who had been there that day and understood what had happened.

She highlighted the exceptional service provided by Disney cast members, emphasizing that they are the ones who make Disney World the special place it is. It is obvious from her thread that this person did not wish to cause an issue and truly wondered why guest services made her feel this way.

Almost cried when I read this, thanks so much for your comment. It’s huge relief hearing directly from a CM who was there that day and just understanding what happened. You guys are seriously the best and make Disney World the special place that it is.

Ultimately, this story shows that misunderstandings can occur between cast members and guests. While this visitor did not wish to cause an issue, the ordeal strained her relationship with the park.

However, it was nice to see a cast member bring the situation to light and give this person validation for their troubles. It can be disheartening if a Disney cast member accuses a guest of something they didn’t do.

  1. a great reason to bring back a modified fastpass system that doesn’t make you jump all around the park like genie+ does
