Disney Cast Member Ruined Their Proposal, Couple Speaks Out

One of the biggest stories to come out of a Disney Theme Park this month has been the story of the ‘smug’ glittery-Minnie-ear-toting Cast Member destroying a couple’s proposal in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at the Disneyland Paris Resort. After the internet erupted in a fury, and Disneyland Paris issued an apology, the man who got down on one knee only to have the ring snatched from his hand has given his say on the matter. And he did not mince words.

“Disneyland stands for dreams,” he told The New York Times, “Our moment was destroyed.”

Ante, a 31-year-old I.T. professional from Germany, said that his “mind was empty” when the Cast Member rushed in between him and his now-fiancee, 26, and directed them off the stage, saying, “Yes, that’s great, but over here, it’s going to be even better.” Onlookers can be heard booing the employee.

Ante’s fiancee said yes, but he said that they spent the rest of the day saddened.

“She was at the same time very happy and sad,” he said.

The couple had been dating for four years, with “Disney magic” playing a crucial role in the entire relationship. He began planning the marriage proposal last Christmas when his fiancee gifted them Disneyland Tickets.

He said that he initially wanted to propose during Disneyland’s fireworks spectacular, Illuminations but said he was too excited. He affirmed that he asked permission from a Cast Member before walking up onto the stage.

After the video ended, Ante explained that he had to settle for a bench around the central Hub of Parc Disneyland. It was not until then, when he finally put the ring on her finger, that he could confirm she said yes.

We at Disney Fanatic reported that Disney officials had, in fact, issued an apology after the video of the disrupting Cast Member went viral. Ante confirmed that he and his fiance had been contacted by Disney, offering them a free weekend at Disneyland Park and a stay at their preferred Resort Hotel, but they refused.

“I don’t want to visit Disneyland any more,” he said. “They can’t give us the moment back and that’s the only thing I want — to get a second chance.”

It should be noted that this Cast Member broke multiple rules, including touching the Guests without warning or their consent. It is speculated that this individual was fired, although there has been no official word from Disneyland Paris on the matter.
