Disney Cruise Line Charging More to Visit Lighthouse Point Than the South Pacific, Mediterranean

Disney Cruise Line Cost Lighthouse Point

Disney Cruise Line’s latest voyages to its new exclusive island destination, Lighthouse Point, are extremely expensive–even by Disney Cruise Line standards!

Look, most people reading this would already know that the cost of a Disney cruise is already higher than its competitors at Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruises, and even Celebrity Cruises. But its latest Caribbean offerings for 2024 are astronomically expensive even for its own standards, suggesting that the folks at Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, are expecting demand to be high enough to justify the price point.

The official inaugural sailing to Disney Cruise Line’s new destination on Eleuthera Island in The Bahamas will be on a 7-night cruise onboard the Disney Fantasy with a starting price of just under $8,000 per person (and that is for an inside cabin). After that, the star Bahamian itinerary for 2024 appears to be a 5-night cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida onboard the Disney Magic that only visits Lighthouse Point, Disney’s private island Castaway Cay, and Nassau, and that sailing only has one date with the inside cabin starting at the lowest price point. Every other sail date starts at over $6,000 per person.

Meanwhile, Disney Cruise Line’s inaugural Transpacific Crossing from Honolulu, Hawai’i to Sydney, Australia, via the enchanting South Pacific, onboard the Disney Wonder cost far less. An oceanview room for this two-week once-in-a-lifetime adventure costs far less than almost all of the windowless cabins to this super-fancy new Disney destination.

Now, yes, perhaps the South Pacific cruise is not accessible enough to allow demand to significantly drive up the price. So, let’s look closer. What about Alaska? Well, 7-night adventures departing out of Vancouver, Canada, including two sailings specifically celebrating Disney Cruise Line’s 25th Anniversary are far less than that 5-night stint to two Disney-owned destinations as well.

But it doesn’t stop there! According to the Disney Cruise Line website, as of the day of this article’s publication, families can explore the unforgettable destinations in Mexico, Bermuda, The Mediterranean, the British Isles, and the Norwegian Fjords in Northern Europe all for far less or equal to the same price as this private playground off the coast of Florida.

Don’t get me wrong, I have all the faith in the world that Disney’s Lighthouse Point will prove to truly be a world-class destination, and when you factor in airfare and other travel costs to get to the ships, the pricing may even out or even completely correct itself. But at the end of the day, when planning your next Disney Cruise Line vacation, it is important for Disney Cruise Line Guests to know just how far you can go for your hard-earned dollar.

One comment

  1. The pictures you added for the transpacific cruise quote is for 1 person. The Alaskan cruise is quoted for 2 cruisers. Finally, the Bahamian Cruise is quoted for 4 people. This shows that DCL’s Bahamian cruise is actually cheaper per person than the others you’ve quoted. I’d love to give you the benefit of doubt, but changing the number of guests takes effort. This misrepresentation wasn’t accidental.
