Disney Cruise Line to Lessen COVID Testing Requirements for Select Guests

Disney Cruise Line continues to be one of the most draconian cruise lines to sail the seven seas when it comes to COVID-justified restrictions and protocols, and its latest update does little to relieve it of that title.

As of this publication, Disney Cruise Line continues to cater only to “fully vaccinated” Guests who adhere to multiple rounds of testing. It will no longer force Guests aged 12 and under to be fully vaccinated for select sailings. Its competitors, such as Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International, have already begun eliminating vaccine and testing requirements for its Guests.

Now it seems that Disney Cruise Line is attempting to show that it is easing its restrictions again, but just a little.

As shared by Theme Park Insider Scott Gustin, Disney Cruise Line released that “fully vaccinated Guests will no longer be required to complete a second COVID-19 test at the terminal on embarkation day” starting on September 23 for sailings on the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, and Disney Wonder and on November 7 for sailings on the Disney Magic.

Concern for Disney Cruise Line’s enduring mandates has started to arise recently as would-be passengers reportedly abandon it for less-strict competitors, with at least one travel agent reporting clients canceling over $40,000 worth of cruises. We at Disney Fanatic also reported that Disney Cruise Line is starting to inquire about how its would-be passengers feel about the lingering pandemic policies in its survey.

It should be noted that despite its strict measures, Disney Cruise Line passengers have still tested positive while on board. Click the link below to read our coverage of that story.
