When Disney fans think of Disney Cruise Line vacations or Disney cruise ships, they typically think of tropical locales like Castaway Cay.
However, Disney cruise ships are actually made in Germany, which means a trip through the Atlantic to get to Port Canaveral after they’re ready for embarkations — and one Disney cruise ship just made some Scottish residents’ day when it paid a visit to their harbor!
Scotland’s Historic Moment
According to The Scottish Sun website, “The Disney Dream liner was spotted at Greenock’s Ocean Terminal…as part of a seven-day trip around Britain.”
This is reportedly ” the first time” that “a HUGE Disney cruise ship” has chosen to “dock up in Scotland.
The Disney Magic cruise ship has apparently paid a visit to Scotland before, but the Disney Magic cruise ship from the Disney Cruise Line fleet (supposedly) did not actually put into port at Greenock.
Since “this is believed to be the first time [that a] massive ship has docked,” it was certainly a sight to see for Scottish residents or Scotland’s visitors!
Did Merida Say Hello?
Disney did not appear to host any special Scottish celebrations onboard the Disney Dream cruise ship while docked in Greenock’s Ocean Terminal, which is a shame.
After all, Merida is an official Disney Princess with an iconic Scottish brogue, and her movie Brave (2012) continues to be a staple for many Disney Princess fans!
A character performer’s appearance as a “friend” of Merida onboard would probably have gone a long way towards endearing onlookers to the Walt Disney Company and the Disney Cruise Line — but alas, no Merida appearances seemed to be forthcoming.
An appearance from Scottish actress and newlywed Karen Gillan (the star of several Marvel films) would have been a big bonus, as well!
Want to Become More “Scottish”? Here’s How!
Disney fans who liked the look of Scotland after seeing Brave (or who feel tempted by adventure just like Merida the Scottish princess did) will be happy to learn that there is an in-depth Adventures by Disney trip to Scotland — and if you want to take things a step further, you can actually become a real Scottish lord or lady with one charitable purchase!
Have you ever been to Scotland, or tried out a Disney cruise vacation?
