The newest fireworks spectacular to take place at Magic Kingdom park at the Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Enchantment, will be changing its start time in the coming weeks and months as park hours, and likely Guest capacity, increases.

Disney’s Art Rendering of “Disney Enchantment”

Disney Enchantment debuted on the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort, October 1, 2021 to mixed reviews from Guests. Some Guests really enjoyed the new show, while others missed its predecessor, Happily Ever After, and wondered what prompted the change to a show that they viewed as inferior.

The unique factor with Disney Enchantment at this Disney park comes with the projection mapping that like Happily Ever After showcases classic Disney storytelling right on Cinderella Castle , however in the new show, the projections also travel down Main Street U.S.A. This new use of projection mapping for the Magic Kingdom show, allows more Guests to have an immersive view of the show, offering things to see in addition to pyrotechnics whether you are standing right in front of Cinderella Castle in the hub, or further down Main Street.

Since it’s October 1 debut, Disney Enchantment has taken place nightly at 8:00 PM. With park hours and event updates now showing on the official Walt Disney World website through early spring 2022, and additional Disney live entertainment returning to Disney World, we can confirm that the start time will soon be pushed back.

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom on February 14, 2022 for Valentine’s Day will want to note that Disney Enchantment will take place that evening at 9:00 PM, while it will remain at 8:00 PM for the rest of February. Beginning March 13, 2022, the start time for Disney Enchantment will be pushed back to 9:00 PM and remain at this time for the foreseeable future. The later (or earlier) times for fireworks shows usually depends on Daylight Savings and what time the sun sets so that Guests can have the best view of the show, so we do expect the time will move back to an earlier start by the end of the year.

The 9:00 PM start time may also be a side effect of increasing park hours (and therefore crowds) through the spring at Walt Disney World . With each new month of park hours Disney releases, we can see some small increases, so it makes sense that the projections and fireworks show would start later as hours become extended. While Disney does not release official capacity information, it would also not be a surprise if capacity in the park was increasing and this had some impact on the decision to push the start of Disney Enchantment back as well.

If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World for Valentine’s Day or later this spring, be sure to confirm park hours and the times for nighttime spectaculars like Disney Enchantment (as well as Harmonious in EPCOT) ahead of your visit. We will keep you updated here on Disney Fanatic as we learn any new changes to hours and schedules of Walt Disney World shows.
