As Walt Disney World Resort Guest descend upon the Most Magical Place On Earth for Presidents Day Weekend, they will find Bob Chapek’s extra-cost replacement for the FastPass+ System priced at its all time high.
The Disney Genie+ system has been a controversial addition to the MyDisneyExperience app since its inception, charging Guests an additional fee per person per day for parts of the Theme Park experience that used to be complimentary. Originally offered at a flat-rate of $15 per person per day, Disney Genie+ is now at the mercy of a fluctuating pay rate which is raised and lowered based on the expected crowd levels at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
We at Disney Fanatic reported that Disney Genie+ hit a record high cost of $29 per person per day during the holiday season. On Saturday, February 18, we can confirm it returned to that peak cost, and it will likely remain at that level for the entirety of the three-day weekend.
It should be noted that Disney Genie+ is also unavailable for purchase until the morning of each Guest’s Theme Park visit, and Guests cannot see what the cost for this feature will be in the future, making it even more difficult for families to budget for their Walt Disney World Vacation effectively.
As of this article’s publication, Disney Genie+ offers Lightning Lane access for most of the Theme Park attractions, such as Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, with an estimated utilization average of 2-3 attractions per day and exclusive PhotoPass lenses. It was recently announced that Disney World Guests would get complimentary PhotoPass downloads with the purchase of Disney Genie+. However we are still waiting for that additional perk to take effect.
We advise all of our readers to please visit the Walt Disney World website or the MyDisneyExperience app for the most up-to-date information regarding Disney Genie+.
