Disney enthusiasts rejoiced on Monday when Disney dropped a game-changing, five-prong plan to make the Disney Guest experience more magical. The Disney Dining Plan’s return and theme Park reservation removal of date-based tickets (for trips planned on January 9, 2024, and beyond) sent shockwaves through Disney fandom.

Disney didn’t stop there—introducing “good-to-go” days for Annual Passholders, a simplified Genie+ experience, and extended Park time to Resort Guests to round out the wishes of Disney goers craving these changes since COVID-19’s peak three years ago.

All the breaking Disney news aside, die-hard Disney fans took to Reddit to highlight a missing piece of the Park-enhancing puzzle: The Magical Express.

Now we just need the Magical Express back.

Until January 1, 2022, Disney Guests took advantage of The Magical Express: a complimentary VIP shuttle service that offered ground transportation from the airport to the Resort and delivered luggage to Guests’ rooms. The airline check was much simpler with the reassurance that luggage tags would be accounted for and bell services awaited Guests at their Resorts. The service’s removal left a void in the Disney experience for Guests who relied on it, like u/Kroger453PredsFan:

Even if it was brought back as a paid service, it would be 1000% worth it. The convenience, even after the luggage to the room part of it ended, was awesome and the best start to our trips.

Anyone who frequents Disney knows the convenience of staying in a Walt Disney World Resort close to Parks like The Magic Kingdom is crucial to an immersive experience. As a result, most Guests rely on Disney transportation—the monorail, Disney Skyliner, and boats—to get in and out of the Parks. That leaves a question mark on the carefully-planned itinerary for the trip from the airport to the Resort.

Disney’s Magical Express service demonstrated the commitment to Guests that has kept loyal Disney fanatics coming back for decades. In its place, there are two transportation services Disney Guests can use to get to their hotels:

  1. Mears Connect: Offering both Standard and Express transportation options from the Orlando Airport to Disney World, Mears Transportation offers economy pricing, including tolls and surcharges. The cost to ride for adults is $15 and $12 for children, so it’s not free, and it doesn’t include luggage delivery.
  2. Sunshine Flyer: The old-fashioned locomotive shuttles Disney Guests to Resort Hotels, but it runs a one-way service costing $19.59 per adult and $11 per child. The Sunshine Flyer also provides round-trip service for 39 per adult and $22 per child.

Several Disney fans on the thread mentioned Uber as an option, but it’s not a feasible one for everyone, including u/DanknugzBlazeit420:

Everyone saying Uber is so much easier must not have 2+kids needing car seats.

All the current Disney airport transportation options take a backseat to The Magical Express’s convenience, cost ($Free.99), and service level. Even with exciting updates to look forward to in 2024, Disney fans feel incomplete without Disney bringing The Magical Express bus back to Kissimmee’s streets.
