While Hidden Mickeys make for a fun scavenger hunt, the gilded 50th Anniversary character statues throughout Walt Disney World are ideal photo ops.

To celebrate 50 years of the Most Magical Place on Earth, the Walt Disney World Resort got an “EARidescent” upgrade with 50 golden statues honoring classic Disney characters. Mickey and Minnie, Donald and Daisy, Stitch and Abu are just a few of Magic Kingdom’s golden characters. Figment, Pua, and Hei-Hei are famous Disney friends in EPCOT, while R2-D2 and Edna Mode are just some of the characters standing tall in Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s most famous wildlife characters are appropriately placed in Animal Kingdom, featuring Simba, Timone, Pumbaa, Nemo, Dory, Thumper, and Bambi. Recently celebrating his 80th anniversary, the hall-of-fame Disney character, Bambi, has a prominent place near the Tree of Life. The statue depicting the famous scene from the 1942 animated film when the lovable fawn discovers a butterfly on his tail has become a popular photo backdrop for Disney Guests.

With even more buzz surrounding Disney’s most famous deer after news of a live-action remake broke, the adorable statue has started attracting unwanted attention.

Parents Encourage a Shocking Scene

It’s no surprise that kids can get rowdy at Walt Disney World. With their favorite characters coming to life, countless thrill rides, and endless sugary treats, it can be challenging for children to contain their excitement.

But when a Disney Guest visited Animal Kingdom recently, they took to the people’s forum site, Reddit, to share their shock when parents encouraged a ridiculous display on the 50th Anniversary Bambi statue.

In the post titled, “Seriously failing to understand people,” u/RocketMan927 stated:

Went to AK yesterday, and as I was leaving, I noticed a kid getting his picture with the Bambi 50th statue. Sorry, with is the wrong word, because the kid had actually climbed on top like he was riding Bambi. Why would anyone even begin to think that’s appropriate, let alone encourage it. Genuinely hope that some nearby cameras caught it and appropriate actions were taken against the family.

Fellow horrified Disney fans like u/TheMildWildOne expressed their disappointment in the scene:

The things that some parents allow their children to do never cease to amaze me.

Other Redditors like u/withlovesparrow shared similar stories from their Disney trips:

I saw a family put their toddler on the Buzz animatronic’s stage in the queue for Space Ranger Spin to take photos. They’ll straight up encourage awful behavior sometimes.

Although no one can know whether or not Disney caught the havoc-wreaking parents, it seems like unruly Guests will always find their way into Disney Parks.
