Some rooms at one Disney resort's flagship hotel will be rethemed to Minnie Mouse, effective January 2027.
Disney has faced growing criticism in recent years for sacrificing its hotels' original identities in favor of familiar franchises. Disney's Contemporary Resort swapped its retro-futuristic guest room designs for The Incredibles-inspired decor in 2021, while Disney's Polynesian Village Resort introduced some Moana theming.

Elsewhere, Disneyland's Paradise Pier Hotel became Pixar Place Hotel in 2024, while Disneyland Paris reimagined Hotel New York around Marvel.
Such changes have frustrated fans who argue that Disney is increasingly prioritizing recognizable characters over the distinctive, immersive settings that originally made its hotels so appealing. Some have gone so far as to compare Disney's recent hotel changes to a Marriott – or, in some cases, a “hospital room.”
With that in mind, some fans may be unhappy about one upcoming change.
Disney Hotel Embraces Minnie Mouse Theming in Some Rooms
Several rooms at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel are set to be rethemed to Minnie Mouse.
The rooms will feature Minnie's signature pink color scheme, with a large illustration of the character surrounded by hearts above the headboard. The alcove bed will also receive a heart-patterned bedspread and cushions featuring Figaro and Fifi.

New additions for 2027 include a Minnie Mouse bow painted on the vanity mirror, alongside heart and ribbon decorations on the surrounding lamps and tables. These details are designed to give guests even more opportunities to take photos during their stay.
Tokyo Disneyland Hotel's standard rooms typically feature elegant Victorian-style furnishings, floral carpets, and subtle Disney details, including Mickey Mouse silhouettes and Cinderella Castle designs on the headboards. The hotel also offers separate character rooms inspired by Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, and Tinker Bell from Peter Pan.
The latest move comes as part of Tokyo Disneyland's Minnie's Funderland celebration, the seventh and final installment of its Disney's Pal-Palooza event series, which runs from January 13 through March 31, 2027.

Guests staying in the rooms will also receive exclusive souvenirs to take home. Each room comes with two Minnie-themed pouches featuring transparent backs, as well as four heart-shaped postcards featuring the character in different poses.
However, unlike Disney's more permanent hotel makeovers, these changes will only be temporary. The special rooms will be available from January 12 through March 31, 2027, with Tokyo Disneyland Hotel and Disney Ambassador Hotel also offering limited-time menus inspired by the celebration.
Reservations for stays between January 12 and March 20 will open on November 20, 2026, at 1 p.m. local time. Later stays can be booked up to four months in advance, starting at 11 a.m. Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Packages, which offer massive appeal to international visitors in particular, will also include the special rooms.
