When planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, guests have more than 25 hotels to choose from that are either owned by Disney or are located on Disney World property. The same cannot be said for Disneyland Resort. Disneyland only has three hotels that are on property. Those are Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the Disneyland Hotel, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.

Disney purchased the Paradise Pier Hotel in 1995, but it did not become Paradise Pier until 2002. That is when Disney’s newest theme park — Disney California Adventure Park — opened. Since DCA had an area called Paradise Pier, it made sense to name the hotel something similar, as a way to tie the two together.

However, California Adventure no longer has a Paradise Pier. The area received a massive retheme and reopened as Pixar Pier in 2018. So, at the 2022 D23 Expo, Disney announced that Paradise Pier would be getting a similar Pixar makeover and would be transformed into Pixar Place Hotel. Since then, Disney has slowly been making the changes while keeping the hotel open.

Disney Parks Blog shared more:

Playful Pixar elements have been coming to life over the past few months at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland Resort, and we’re excited to share that the property will officially transform into Pixar Place Hotel on Jan. 30, 2024, becoming the first fully Pixar-themed hotel in the United States.

Pixar Place Hotel will evoke the inspiration and humor that goes into every Pixar film, while celebrating the artistic process. Showcasing early sketches to finished design, the art and decor will highlight vibrant Pixar stories, revealing some never-before-seen artwork.

Full of Pixar Magic

Disney is sparing no expense when it comes to immersing guests in the world of Pixar with its first-ever Pixar-themed hotel. Each hotel room will have its very own Luxo Jr. lamp, and Pixar touches everywhere. The headboards will feature concept art from some of your favorite Pixar movies, including Toy Story, Brave, The Incredibles, and more!

The rooms aren’t the only place where guests will see beautiful pieces of Pixar art. The rooftop deck has been completely transformed. There is now a Pixar-themed swimming pool, as well as a fun splash pad for younger guests. Guests who want to enjoy some food by fire pits will be able to enjoy fire pits that each are themed after Pixar characters.

In addition to the incredible rooms and rooftop area, Pixar Place Hotel will also be the home of some fantastic dining options.

Perfect Place for Pixar Shopping

It wouldn’t be a Disney hotel without a fun gift shop — and Pixar Place will be no exception. Disneyland Resort guests can head to Pixar Place to shop at STOR-E — a shop that will pay homage to all things Pixar. The store will be full of great merchandise like toys, apparel, mugs, snacks, and more!
