Disneyland Auditions

Disneyland Resort put out some new audition notices recently. The park is hunting for local talent to bring a set of never-before-seen characters to life. While Disney is famous for its beloved cast of characters, this latest casting call generates a lot of intrigue due to its uniqueness. It seems Disneyland is gearing up for a special event or after-hours party that promises to be filled with catchy boy band music and some famous Pixar characters.

The characters in question come from Turning Red, a heartwarming and hilarious Pixar film that saw success on Disney+ in 2022. Set in the vibrant backdrop of Toronto in 2002, the movie follows Mei Lee, a 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian student who transforms remarkably into a giant red panda whenever she experiences strong emotions. With themes of puberty, adolescence, family, and cultural expectations, Turning Red quickly became a fan favorite.

However, this casting call is special because it introduces prominent Turning Red characters who have never graced any Disney parks before. These characters include Mei’s three best friends, her father, and the members of the fictional boy band 4*Town from the film.

The arrival of these characters suggests an unannounced event or after-hours party on the horizon, which would almost certainly get fans out who love meeting rare characters. The notices are listed on the Disney Auditions page, with descriptions for the following characters:

  • Miriam – Mei’s loyal and easygoing friend.
  • Priya – Mei’s effortlessly chill and stoic friend.
  • Abby – Disney describes this friend as a stick of dynamite, and she was a fan-favorite from the film.
  • Jin Lee – Mei’s devoted and quiet father.

In addition to these main characters, the park is also seeking all five members of the 4*Town boy band featured in the film. The audition lists Robaire, Tae Young, Jesse, Aaron Z, and Aaron T in the notice for casting. While Disney stresses dance ability is important, it also states that these characters will be cast mostly based on resemblance to their on-screen counterparts. This likely means these roles won’t be singing live.

While the exact details remain under wraps, one thing is certain: Disneyland Resort is about to make its magic even more exciting by adding these fresh and exciting characters from Turning Red. Disney Fanatic will update this story when Disney confirms exactly how these characters are being utilized in their roles.
