Disney Just Made Genie+ Even More Complicated

A new update has come in for Disney’s Genie+ service affecting Park Hoppers’ multi-Park experience, and it has come off as complicated and confusing.

According to Theme Park insider Scott Gustin, there has been a change when it comes to selecting Genie+’s Lightning Lane when Park Hopping. Apparently, Genie+ used to recognize when a Guest was intending to Park Hop. Per his example, if a Guest started his or her day in the Magic Kingdom and decided to search for Lightning Lane options at another Park like EPCOT, the system would automatically show available options at 2 pm or later. However, that no longer seems to be the case.

Instead, Guests will have to wait until Lightning Lane options for 2 pm or later become available.

While nearly all pandemic-era restrictions have been removed from The Walt Disney World Resort, one thing that remains in place is the hindrance of Park Hopping. No one can Park Hop until 2 pm.

Genie+ is also known for having the bad habit of not allowing Guests to choose what time they prefer to utilize Lightning Lane options. Beyond the payment, this is perhaps one of the most noticeable differences between this and the now-retired FastPass+ system.

Genie+ costs $15 per person per day and allows Guests to select 2-3 line-skipping Lightning Lane options every day for select attractions. Other attractions can be accessed via Individual Lightning Lane which is available separately and a la carte. Prices vary on the attraction.

Please visit the Walt Disney World Website or the My Disney Experience App for the most up-to-date information on the Genie+ system.
