A Disney lifeguard lost her job because of a viral video of her in a hot tub circulated by a Disney fan hoping to gain some traction on TikTok.
Cast members and Disney employees truly make the Disney experience. Many times, guests have called out cast members for going that extra mile to bring the Disney magic. Of course, the flip side is the opposite can also happen where guests pick fights with cast members or get them in trouble.
And this story is about a situation just like that. Because of a video uploaded by a fan, a Disney lifeguard found her job in jeopardy.
Viral Video Threatens Disney Cast Member
A former Walt Disney World Resort hotel lifeguard, @caitlinrae.s on TikTok, shared her story, in the form of a common TikTok trend, where creators use humor to share their experiences.
Caitlin explained that she’d started the Disney College Program and became a lifeguard, and after passing the Ellis training, she began her first day of “on-the-job” training. Unfortunately, her grandmother passed away the same morning and so she had to inform her trainers that she needed to go back home for her funeral. Her trainers were reportedly fairly supportive as well.
However, before leaving, she had to test out of Disney’s lifeguard training, and unfortunately for her, it was 55 degrees that day. After successfully finishing her test, Caitlin was understandably freezing, so the trainers suggested she warm up in the hot tub.
This is where it gets messy.
Caitlin explained, “You go into the hot tub, and you make a conscious effort to talk to guests because, hey, you’re a cast member; what else are you supposed to do?” she recalled. “And someone behind you actually takes a video of you and posts it on TikTok, and it goes viral.”
The video spread far and wide and Caitlin’s lifeguard trainers had to get involved so that she wouldn’t get in trouble for online attention.
However, the OP allegedly reposted it repeatedly to try to have it go viral once more. “People are saying that I’m peeing in the pool and that I am a switcher, whatever that means,” the former Disney lifeguard shared in the video. “She continues to post it and try to get clout off [my] backside… Can you please stop posting that?”
Ultimately, the situation was resolved and Caitlin spoke to the OP to get her to stop, and the story seems to have run its course.
