Any fans of Greek mythology, middle-grade fantasy adventures, or the “Percy Jackson” adventure books have most likely been keeping a close eye on the development of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series that is being made for Disney+.
The two Logan Lerman films that first tried to successfully bring Percy Jackson and his friends onscreen were famous for their poor performance after they hit theaters — largely due to fans’ intense feelings about the books, which is a hurdle that any book-to-movie adaptation faces — so any news about the second attempt has been in demand.
Now, we finally have some more news about the series’ progress, and it’s from the leading man himself!
That’s a wrap, demigods. 🎬 #PercyJackson and the Olympians has officially finished production! pic.twitter.com/QfDeFGmEC9

In the video from the Tweet shown above, we can see The Adam Project actor Walker Scobell (who plays Percy Jackson, the demigod and main protagonist from the book series) holding his breath and holding up signs. The first sign reveals that season one of the show has officially wrapped filming, and the second sign (jokingly, we presume) says “send help”.
Percy Jackson is obviously the son of Poseidon, the Greek god who controls the seas and oceans of the world, so this underwater announcement is not surprising — nor is the obvious fact that some of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will involve scenes in the water! Whether or not this scene was filmed on the stage of the future, the Volume, remains to be seen.
Author Rick Riordan shared the Tweet; the author of the original “Percy Jackson” books, who now works with Disney to publish many middle-grade adventure or mythology-based series like this fascinating 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea book, is famously unhappy with the first two Percy Jackson films that had been made.
The author had been open about his hesitation to try again, just like Christopher Paolini was hesitant to try again after the failure of Eragon, but he has been reassuring fans ever since the Disney+ series’ announcement and making it clear that he feels better about this attempt to bring his bestselling books onscreen.
